General information
PDFbrix provides general document utilities and technical information. The service does not provide legal, financial, accounting, medical, compliance or records-management advice.
Review generated files
PDF files can contain unusual fonts, forms, layers, annotations, encryption, signatures, embedded media and other structures. Always inspect the downloaded result before deleting the original or submitting the result to another person or system.
Compression
The included Compress PDF workflow rasterizes pages. This can reduce the size of image-heavy PDFs, but it can also reduce visual quality and turn selectable text into image content. Some already-optimized PDFs can become larger instead of smaller.
Signatures
The included Sign PDF tool places a visual signature mark. It is not a certificate-backed cryptographic digital signature and should not be described as one.
Cropping and redaction
Cropping changes a PDF page’s visible crop box. It does not necessarily remove underlying content from the file and must not be used as a substitute for secure redaction of confidential information.
Text extraction
Extract Text reads text already represented as text in a PDF. Image-only scans can require OCR, which is not part of the current extraction tool.
Availability and third-party libraries
Some processing features depend on browser capabilities and third-party open-source PDF libraries. Results can vary by document and device. No uninterrupted or error-free operation is guaranteed.
Keep originals
For important documents, keep an untouched backup of the original file until you have verified the generated output.
